Rethinking how teams interact with data

Modern security teams worldwide use Vulcan Cyber to centralize scan data from various security tools, prioritize risks, and streamline remediation processes at scale. By gaining unified visibility into their entire risk landscape, teams can manage risk from a single platform and access data and insights that were previously out of reach.

Until now, ExposureOS users have relied on the platform’s rule-based filtering system to pinpoint and retrieve specific data sets. They could create precise queries using parameters like asset properties, vulnerability characteristics, remediation status, and custom organizational metadata.

For instance, to locate critical vulnerabilities affecting cloud resources, users could apply filters such as:

Risk level > is > critical

AND
Asset > type > is > cloud resource

While this approach allowed users to access the data they needed, the rise of AI has changed the way we interact with information, presenting an opportunity to make this process even more intuitive. That’s why we partnered with Neradot to develop a natural language interface for ExposureOS, making data management as effortless as having a conversation.

Why a natural language interface?

Our goal was to make it easier for ExposureOS users to interact with risk data using plain language. We aimed to replace complex filters with a simple search engine, helping streamline workflows, reduce errors, and create a more seamless experience for everyone involved.

Picture this: Instead of crafting detailed queries with multiple filters to find critical vulnerabilities in your cloud resources, users can simply type:

“Critical vulnerabilities affecting cloud resources.”

In an instant, the platform delivers a clear list of all relevant vulnerabilities and even suggests the most urgent next steps—like assigning remediation tasks to the cloud team.

This natural language functionality goes beyond just saving time; it helps teams stay focused, cut through the noise, and move swiftly toward resolution.

The benefits of AI-powered data management

With the new AI-driven natural language interface, ExposureOS users now have a fast and simple way to access, understand, and act on critical information.

Here’s how our new search engine optimizes workflows for security teams:

  • Straightforward commands: Gone are the days of sifting through complex filters and crafting intricate queries. With just a few words, users can instantly find what they need—whether it’s a specific vulnerability or an asset group. It’s as simple as typing a natural question or request, saving time and reducing complexity.

  • Quicker decisions: The AI-driven search engine eliminates the need for manual searching and interpreting raw data. Users get clear, actionable insights in moments, enabling faster decision-making. What once took time to analyze is now instantly accessible, ensuring that teams stay responsive and ahead of potential threats.

  • Fewer steps, more results: Instead of navigating through multiple steps or layers of filters to find high-priority vulnerabilities or assets, users can now use direct, simple language to quickly pinpoint what matters most. This efficiency is a game-changer—allowing teams to accomplish more in less time, with fewer steps involved in the process.

  • Action-first insights: The AI interface doesn’t just surface important data; it also guides users on what to do with it. By suggesting the next logical steps, like assigning remediation tasks or escalating risks, the system ensures that teams don’t just have the information—they have the guidance necessary to act immediately.

  • Personalized experience: Over time, the system learns from users’ behaviors, preferences, and search patterns, offering tailored recommendations that reflect each team’s unique environment. This personalized touch ensures that users get the most relevant results and action steps for their specific needs, making the platform more intuitive the more it’s used.

These updates create a workflow that’s not just faster and more accurate, but smarter—empowering security teams to focus on what matters most.

At Vulcan Cyber, we’re always looking for ways to improve. The natural language interface represents a step toward creating tools that work the way security teams need them to—intuitive, efficient, and designed to solve real problems.
